In addition, what we learn of her life establishes her as a somewhat unreliable narrator. Due to life experiences and people that are alluded to throughout the story, we develop an understanding as to why Eleanor is the way she is, which caused me as a reader to see her as vulnerable and feel sympathy towards her. I enjoyed reading from Eleanor’s perspective, as her character was brutally honest at times, socially inept, intelligent and somewhat odd.
